You will find out which form of hair loss is present in your case from our doctors during an initial, non-binding consultation. As part of this initial consultation, a medical examination of your scalp will also take place, which is based, among other things, on our HairMetrix procedure. The two most common forms of hair loss are androgenetic alopecia and diffuse alopecia.

Androgenetic alopecia:

• is hereditary,
• occurs in almost 90 percent of all men over 21 years of age
• increasingly occurs in women as well.

In androgenetic alopecia, the temples and the back of the head are affected.
At first, receding hairlines form at the temples.
This is followed by the back of the head with hair loss in the form of a tonsure.

Diffuse alopecia:

Causes of diffuse alopecia include, for example, malnutrition, various medications and stress.

The number of grafts you can have transplanted in one session depends on several factors. These include the size of the recipient area, the density in the donor area, the tools used and the experience of the transplanter. At HAIR & SKIN it is possible to have a so-called "Mega Session" with up to 5000 grafts. The sapphire blade used allows for the highest precision and density, as well as a natural result.

As with any surgery, there are some risks and possible complications associated with hair transplantation using the sapphire technique. These include infection, post-operative bleeding, temporary sensitivity changes and swelling. In addition, there may be undesirable scarring or uneven hair growth in rare cases. It is therefore important to get thorough advice from our experienced specialists before the hair transplant operation and to carefully follow the instructions for aftercare following the procedure.

The recovery time after the saphire treatment is usually a few days to a week. This is considerably faster than other hair transplant methods.

Hair transplantation with the sapphire technique is performed under local anaesthesia, which is why the transplantation itself is painless. The local anaesthetic is the only unpleasant part of the treatment. After the operation, there may be some slight swelling and pain. However, this can be easily controlled with painkillers.

As a patient, you must strictly adhere to all instructions given by the HAIR & SKIN doctors. This includes avoiding direct sunlight, the use of sun protection, refraining from sports (depending on the type of sport, take about 4 weeks off), regular and controlled medication intake, etc.

We also offer the hair transplant without shaving the head. However, there are only a few cases in which we consider doing so. This is currently only possible for clients with long hair and only if the hair transplant is for the receding hairline. In this case, the head is not completely shaved, as in the case with the normal hair transplant, but only the donor area and about 2 cm of the recipient area towards the middle of the head, in order to insert the hair without a transition. Shaving the donor area is always necessary, because only in this way hygiene and correct removal of the grafts can be guaranteed.

However, it is recommended to always do the procedure with a shaving if there is a desire for a good and lasting result. Therefore, it should always be weighed up with our specialists on a case-by-case basis whether a hair transplant without shaving is worthwhile.

Theoretically, there is no age limit for hair transplants. For example, hair transplants for children who lost parts of their hair due to accidents or burns, are a medical necessity.

Practically, hair transplants are not recommended for people under the age of 25, because in most cases the hair loss is not completed yet. If transplanted too early, the grafted areas are resistant to progressive loss, but the natural hair would continue to be lost. This would leave lonely islands of hair on the bald head if the hair loss continues.

It is therefore recommended that a hair transplant is only executed when the hair loss has stopped or is in a late stage. The anamnesis and the examination results are therefore decisive so that the transplantation is executed at the right time in life.

If a patient decides to have a hair transplant at a young age, contrary to the recommendation, it is possible that more interventions need to be carried out in the future.

The sensation of pain is subjective, therefore it is not possible to make generalisations. Most of our patients find local anaesthesia bearable. Others find it unpleasant. In such cases, HAIR & SKIN offers the possibility of anaesthetising the skin with a pain-relieving technique. In this way, the pain experienced during anaesthesia is minimised. A hair transplant is the transplantation of body hair. Hair transplants are performed for hair loss in both men and women.

In principle, yes. Mental performance is not minimized by the procedure. However, we recommend that you do not engage in any physical activities for 1 week and do not expose yourself to extreme weather conditions.

Not necessarily. In one of the most common problem areas of men, tonsure, people won't notice anything after the treatment. The hair is taken out and put back in place without cutting a bald spot. Due to the localization at the back of the head, there is no need for a headband to prevent swelling of the face. And the patient can sit at his desk and work the very next day.

In case of a full hair transplantation in a bald patient, the red dots with the inserted grafts would certainly be seen on the scalp for 2-3 weeks and this patient would also have to wear a headband for the first few days.

Normally, after twelve months, the patient has fuller hair than before the treatment. In individual cases, however, not all transplanted hair may grow as desired, so that a new procedure is necessary.

he next step is the removal of the grafts from the back of the head (i.e. the donor area). This is done in the prone position while your donor area is locally anaesthetised. Yes. A hair transplant is suitable for both women and men. Particularly popular with women: The long hair transplant, which is offered by us for male and female patients. In long hair transplants, the hair in the problem area is not shortened. Only a strip at the back of the head, which serves as the donor area, is shaved. The size of the shaved strip varies according to the amount of grafts needed. After harvesting the grafts, the shaved area can be covered with the existing hair so that no bald spots are visible.

A hair transplant takes 2.5 to 8 hours - depending on the treated section.

After a hair transplant, there are some things you should definitely take care of!

• Avoid sunshine as much as possible and stay in cooled rooms. This will benefit your scalp. Sweating can hurt and affect wound healing.
• Follow the guidelines and advice of the treating physician.
• In the first two weeks after your hair transplant, you should avoid sports if possible. After this time you can safely start again with “light” sports such as yoga. However, it is better to wait four weeks before practicing any ball sports or martial arts, for example.
• Avoid alcohol and other drugs for at least two weeks.

Just like the hair on the head, the beard hair in men lives dangerously. Because would you have thought that almost every second man has to struggle with sparse beard growth or even beard loss at least once in the course of his life? But what can be the reason for this?

However, chronic stress or an unbalanced diet are also not to be underestimated.
• A rarer form of beard loss is called alopecia areata, better known as circular hair loss. The special feature of this disease: circular bald patches form in the beard, about the size of a coin. The cause of alopecia areata is still unclear. However, experts assume an autoimmune disorder of the body. In other words, the immune system fights itself. It even actively attacks healthy hair cells.

Good to know: Stagnant hair growth is no longer an unsolvable problem. With the help of a professionally performed hair or beard transplantation, thinning areas can be easily, quickly and effectively thickened again. Important: On the head, our hairs grow in small groups. Up to four hairs are in one group. With the beard it is different. It is composed of many individual hairs. And this is exactly what must be taken into account during transplantation.

In order to be able to transplant the individual hairs into the beard, the physician exposes tiny openings in the skin. These serve him, so to speak, as mini-channels for the grafts.

And what about the regeneration after the beard transplantation? This is also limited. Already after a few days the patient is fully socially acceptable again.

Specialist literature and practice show that PRP noticeably improves hair quality and strengthens the hair roots. In addition, short-term studies show that hair density can be increased by 12 to 50 percent. A positive effect is thus clear, even if the effect of the treatment varies individually in its strength. The two most common forms of hair loss are androgenetic alopecia and diffuse alopecia.

Side effects of the injected susbtance include the following reactions. It is important to note that all side effects - like the effects of the treatment - are temporary. There are no long-term side effects.

• Focal facial paralysis

The only thing that can be seen after the treatment is the small injection sites and rarely the smallest bruises if fine skin vessels have been damaged. After the treatment, you are immediately fit for work again. You should not massage the injection sites for the first four hours.
